The Gallery House | Architectural Digest–Featured Ketchum Home
Stay somewhere worth talking about.
The Gallery House isn't your typical Sun Valley vacation home. Designed by acclaimed architect Mark Mack and featured in Architectural Digest, this four-bedroom retreat on Knob Hill is equal parts home, art, and architecture—all tucked into a private setting just blocks from the heart of downtown Ketchum.
From the moment you arrive, the house feels different. Bold geometry, unexpected color, enormous windows and playful architectural details make it feel almost like you've stepped inside a painting. And somehow, through all of that design, Bald Mountain remains the backdrop.
Step inside to an expansive open-concept main level designed for gathering. Two distinct living areas give everyone room to spread out, while the contemporary fireplace creates a natural place to settle in after a day on Baldy. A mudroom provides an easy landing spot for skis, boots and mountain gear.
The dining space frames beautiful views toward Bald Mountain, while the large chef's kitchen offers plenty of room for cooking, entertaining and lingering around the kitchen together. Look closely as you move through the home—the longer you stay, the more clever little design details you'll notice.
All sleeping spaces are upstairs. The primary suite features a king bed, walk-in closet and private bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower. A second bedroom has a queen bed, while the third offers two twin beds that can be converted into a king. The fourth sleeping space is a large office with a pull-out sofa—ideal for someone who wants a little extra privacy or needs to sneak in a few hours of work.
Outside, the home feels surprisingly tucked away for being downtown. Pines and aspens surround the yard and outdoor dining deck, with Baldy rising beyond the trees. Summer evenings here are hard to beat.
And then there's the location.
Walk into downtown Ketchum for dinner, drinks, coffee or shopping and return to a home that feels completely removed from it all. Ketchum Grill is just down the hill, Knob Hill rises behind you, and the restaurants, galleries and shops of downtown are all within easy reach.
This isn't simply a place to stay in Ketchum.
It's part of Ketchum's architectural story.
Why We Love It
🎨 You get to sleep inside a piece of design history. This home was featured in Architectural Digest—and nearly 30 years later, it still feels completely unlike anything else in town.
🏔️ Baldy is part of the artwork. Windows throughout the home intentionally pull the mountain and surrounding landscape into the rooms.
🍷 The ultimate Ketchum evening: walk downtown for dinner, wander home under the stars, pour one more glass of wine and settle in by the fire.
🧩 You'll keep discovering things. Colors, angles, windows, textures, sightlines—this is the rare house that gets more interesting the longer you're in it.
🌲 Downtown without feeling downtown. Trees, a yard, outdoor dining and remarkable privacy—all while staying within walking distance of Ketchum.
🔥 Après has a pretty great address. Drop the skis in the mudroom, light the fire and claim a couch with a view of Baldy.
🥂 It's made for a group that wants something memorable. Not another beige luxury rental. Not another mountain condo. Something you'll actually remember years later.
